Project Details

Existing STP: Utilises the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology, which is a time-based treatment process carried out in a single reactor vessel.
New STP: Implements Membrane BioReactor (MBR) technology, an advanced process combining biological treatment with membrane filtration, allowing for higher quality effluent and better space efficiency.
Existing STP: Operates on an open system, which may expose treatment processes to the environment, leading to potential odour and safety concerns.
New STP: Uses a fully closed system, ensuring better control of emissions, improved hygiene, and minimal odour leakage — more suitable for urban integration.
Existing STP: Capable of handling 153,000 Population Equivalent (PE).
New STP: Slightly higher capacity at 160,000 PE, showing improved efficiency within a more compact system.
Existing STP: Occupies 8.45 acres, which is significantly larger than the capacity it serves.
New STP: Reduced to only 1.37 acres, demonstrating exceptional space efficiency — freeing up land for potential redevelopment or green zones.
Existing STP: Produces effluent that meets Standard A under Malaysia’s Department of Environment (DOE) discharge standards.
New STP: Produces Modified Standard A effluent, indicating even stricter discharge quality with lower levels of contaminants — better for environmental sustainability and future compliance.
